In the early eighties, 'a matter of TASTE' started from restaurant De Knijp on the Van Baerlestraat in Amsterdam South, providing on-site catering.
Our first customers asked us for an innovative food interpretation for film premieres in the Tuschinski cinema and meetings in the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam. Other caterers still served rosé, peanuts and cheese and sausage turrets or bitterballen at parties.
The West Indian House We became infamous for our fancy finger food concept and the mini portion of fish and chips that we served in a newspaper during parties. Very innovative and creative for that time and that is still baked into our DNA. In 1989 TASTE moved into Het West-Indisch Huis on the Haarlemmerstraat and this is still our home base to this day.
For the past 30 years, we have served our clients in Amsterdam and the surrounding area from here. At the time, we started small like many, but we have now grown into a fully-fledged player in the events industry. The biggest achievement so far is the participation in the H2U consortium, with 50,000 packages the official catering partner of SAIL 2015.
