Café Nol, the most famous Café of the Amsterdam Jordaan.
On July 1, 1966, Nol and Miep Uilenbroek bought the then Cafe Huisman and renamed it Cafe Nol. From day one, Cafe Nol was a resounding success. Nol sr had a golden formula, a cafe where there is always fun. Cafe Nol has always been a family business, Nol and his wife Miep at the helm and their children Ali Gijzenhout / Uilenbroek, Nol jr Uilenbroek and Tobi Uilenbroek respectively behind the bar and as waiters in the hall.
Because of the special friendship with Johnny Jordaan, Tante Leen and Willy Alberti, among others, the Amsterdam song of life has always been very important to Cafe Nol to this day.
In 1979, after 15 very successful years, Nol and Miep Uilenbroek had had enough, and Cafe Nol was sold to the children Ali Gijzenhout / Uilenbroek, Nol jr Uilenbroek and Tobi Uilenbroek and Cees Grijshout became husband of Ali, the financial man behind the scenes.
In 1990 Ali and Tobi said goodbye to the catering industry, and from that moment on Nol jr and his wife Ans have continued Cafe Nol as a couple, still with the same motto Cafe Nol, always fun!
Working at Nol Jr and Ans was their niece Anne-Marie Gisjeshout, granddaughter of Nol Sr and Miep and daughter of Ali Grijshout / Uilenbroek and Cees Gisjeshout. After 15 years of enjoying working in her family's cafe, the opportunity arose to buy it!
January 1, 2012 Anne-Marie Grijshout bought Cafe Nol, and it is still the family business as it always has been. The fourth, the generation is already in the starting blocks Lisa Grijzenhout daughter of Anne-Marie Gray Wood!
Cafe Nol has a very colorful history and a bright future!
