For specialty beer, go to Café Westerdok, which is located on the corner of Westerdoksdijk and Barentzplein in Amsterdam. With a view of the IJ, it has been a café since 1899. The owner and bartender is Steve Bramwell. He is assisted by his partner Adelina Landman and their son Justin. The store has been thoroughly renovated, but the historic character of the interior has been preserved.
Cafe Westerdok is open
You are very welcome at Cafe Westerdok! It is mandatory to make a reservation in advance.
Cafe Westerdok is open from Wednesday to Saturday from 4:00 pm to 1:00 am and on Sunday from 4:00 pm to midnight. We are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
The basement of Café Westerdok has been renovated
In recent months we have of course not been idle during our closure due to corona: the bar has been properly repainted and the entire cellar has been renovated.
The basement has been used as a smoking area and as a place for parties in recent years. The cellar was actually a bit tired after a few years of use. Because we now need more space for our guests due to the 1.5-meter measure, this was the time to renovate the basement and to make cozy seating areas there too. The walls have been whitewashed, old furniture and rubbish have been thrown away and most eye-catching: now there is also a beautiful wooden floor downstairs!
To create enough space, we decided to get rid of the billiards. This was almost never played anymore. In the long term (if the corona measures are relaxed) we want to place a nice wooden table where you can play games, read a newspaper or drink beer with your friends on the spot of the billiards. The dart courts have also been temporarily removed. If we are allowed to sit closer together again, a dartboard will probably return for the enthusiasts.
