Petit gâteau is the real French patisserie in Amsterdam by Meike Schaling and Patrice Andrieu. The couple met in Paris where Meike opened a pastry shop after completing her pastry course. After six successful years, Meike and Patrice moved, with their five children, to Amsterdam to do the same there.
Once upon a time, there was a girl who wanted to become a pastry chef. Meike Schaling decided to follow her heart and learned the pastry trade in Paris at the Ecole de Boulangerie et de Pâtisserie. She worked as a Pâtissière in the star restaurant La Grande Cascade. In 2006 she opened her own patisserie in Paris and in 2013, together with Patrice, opened Petit gâteau Amsterdam.
Patrice Andrieu learned the trade at the Ecole hôtelière de Chamalière in the Puy-de-Dôme and Hostellerie de Fontanges in Rodez. After his studies he worked for Groupe Accor, Saint Clair le traiteur and La Grande Epicerie de Paris where he developed the catering department. From menu composition to budgeting and logistics, Patrice has organized countless receptions and events for various French ministries and clients such as Chanel, Dior, Guerlain, Louis Vuitton and Les Opéras de Paris.
